Letters, military papers, scrapbooks and reports. Twenty-one letters from brother-in-law Leslie R. Robinson, a lawyer in Peoria to Ballance at West Point. A number of papers relating to his military service while in Idaho and Montana, 1889-1892. The majority is from his service in the Philippines including his reports made while civil governor. A 107 page report by Brigadier General S.B.M. Young re: military operations in the Philippines from Oct. 1899-Jan. 1900. Also includes scrapbooks of Charles Ballance with copies of articles he wrote on politics and government, articles on the Civil War, Lincoln and the Ballance family. One letter each to Charles from Robert Cooper Grier, Thomas Drummond, John Dean Caton, O.H. Browning and Asa Bird Gardner.
